Snow Day

All up and down the East Coast, folks are stuck inside & missing a work or school day.
Here's something beautiful things to help you enjoy your day at home.

If I get some extra time I'm going to go out and test my new camera with this beautiful landscape.

324 months old.

My incredibly handsome boyfriend turns 324 months today.
We laughed this weekend as we attended his niece's birthday; she is now officially into years as opposed to months.
Sometimes we wish we could go back to celebrating in months.

Good guys are hard to come by & I am so thankful I found someone that makes me this happy.

Happy Birthday dear!
I hope today is everything you've wished for & more.

Wash your mouth out...

Every year all around the world people come up with New Year's resolutions, arbitrary goals set for themselves most often centered around self improvement (health, wealth, character, etc).

Recent research shows that ...only 12% actually achieved their goals. A separate study...showed those who succeed have 5 traits in common.  Men achieved their goal 22% more often when they engaged in goal setting, (a system where small measurable goals are being set; such as, a pound a week, instead of saying "lose weight"), while women succeeded 10% more when they made their goals public and got support from their friends. - wikipedia
I personally hate resolutions - they are too easy to break; however, armed with the knowledge that I am 10% more likely to succeed if I make my goals public, here we go.

The New Year's resolution I made was a simple one.
As opposed to a life change, it felt more like a Lenten promise.  During Lent Christian's "give up" something that is supposed to help break a bad habit or provide them a way of better themselves.  Often these are smaller steps to becoming a better person, i.e. giving up soda or red meat.  Well my New Year's resolutions was to watch my language.
I by no means think I have the mouth of a sailor; however, I have noticed I occasionally use a curse word to provide emphasis.  Never around my elders or children, but even within my peer group it seems unnecessary.  I find it quite revolting and superfluous when I hear others use curse words so I guess maybe it's time to hold myself to the same standards.

Love is in the air...

The Christmas decorations are packed, the clock has passed midnight of a new year, and still it feels like the holiday season.

Each year between November and February, I notice a distinct change in friends and strangers alike.
I've said it before, and I'll say it again....I love the holidays because everyone seems to be in love!

Already, the engagement count is up to 11 friends/acquaintances for this "holiday" time.
Congratulations to all my friends whom have made the commitment to start a family with one another.

Over the New Year's weekend, after several too many glasses of cheap champagne,  I got in a heated discussion with one of my dear guy friends.  He remarked that engagements had become so trivial and commercialized.  Society, namely women, had turned each special moment into a measurement of status and worth of a relationship. "Why do you think that?"  He simply remarked that now engagements are more about the ring than the vow that is being made.

While I understand where he is coming from, I disagree.
I love hearing the engagement stories and cute quirks that make each relationship special.
I almost never ask to see the "bling."  Each ring, or token exchanged during a proposal could have special meaning to a couple.  That's why I love the story.  That's where I do my judging.

How does your proposal story reflect the quirkiness and uniqueness of your relationship?
Care to share your story with us?

YaY!!!

So as many of you know, my personal computer crashed earlier this year.
I made a promise to myself, that if I met my quarterly goals at work that I would upgrade to a newer, nice, computer.

Last week my goal attainment was approved at work, & today I brought home this sweet new toy...

Expect new posts - I'm EXCITED!!!
