That's a shame

Today totally kicked my butt!
{life.with.the.crazies}
While this image from Tina Fey is connected to a prayer about children - to me it depicts the completely overwhelming day I had.  The worst part about today's flavor of overwhelming was that it was unexpected.

Everyone has those days when you wake up and know that you will be going non-stop until your head hits the pillow (or the wine is uncorked).  However, today I woke up assuming it was any other day.  At several points throughout today I had to pause and think.  Did I brush my teeth this morning?  What about deodorant?  Have I eaten lunch; heck, have I eaten breakfast?  Did I have coffee yet?  Would it be wrong if I had another cup of coffee?  How many cups of coffee have I had?  Where's my to-do list, my calendar, my cell phone, my glasses, my keys?  Are my glasses on my head?  Why are my keys in the fridge?

I think at multiple points today I answered open-ended questions with "yes."  They should bring back nap time.  Nap time is more refreshing than coffee but less socially acceptable.

That's a shame.

Is it so wrong?

Remember when you were a kid, Father's Day would roll around your mom would take you to the hardware store to pick out a new fancy tool for Dad.  The archaic view looked something like this:

Mom's Tools {esty}
Dad's Tools {harts.fabric}

Well is it so wrong that I want all the tools from column A & column B?  It' been no secret that I fancy myself fairly handy.  With the several trips to Lowe's over this weekend, I find myself lusting after power tools and provide an added flexibility for my DIY adventures.

Here are some tools I'm lusting after at the moment:
Table Saw

Dremel

Nail & Staple Gun

What are DIY must-have tools do you recommend?

Moving & Shaking

As I'm sure you've gathered - & I so adeptly avoided blogging about - my beau has moved to SW Florida.  I'm beginning to adjust to the new "visitation" schedule but the moving process has been quite the headache, even for me.

{pinterest}
His promotion and departure from Northern Virginia all took place VERY quickly.  Packing, organizing, storing, and trashing did not get the same attention they normally would during a move.  I am anal retentive to say the least.  I like the idea of labeling boxes, packing all "like" items together, clearing and cleaning out in the process.  When I moved into my townhouse each box had a label that included the floor, the room, and the contents of each box.  I was completely moved in and unpack in a matter of hours.

Due to Beau's frequent travel back and forth from Florida, our packing schedule has been limited to Fridays at 10 pm to Sundays at 5 pm.  Within those 43 hours we not only have to pack but also prepare the house for selling, see friends and family, attend prior commitments, spend time with one another, and oh yeah - sleep.

This past weekend we were particularly productive.  We changed all the knobs in the kitchen and baths, packed the majority of the dishes, met with a Realtor, scheduled for the carpet to be replaced, bought new ceiling fans and light fixtures, & surprised our friends with a visit.  Next weekend we have more of the same planned.

What tips do you have for moving & packing, especially on short notice?
I'm hoping to put together the best tips and tricks for moving - available early August.
